Capacity optimization strategies in an unrepeatered system

Abstract

We show 11% capacity improvement in an unrepeatered link at a constant baud-rate, by adjusting the bit-rate of a real-time transponder on a channel-per-channel basis, compared to a fixed bit-rate transponder.
